Performing Arts
Choir
Harrison High School Panther Choir offers a vocal ensemble experience for singers at every level. Our choirs, made up of over 100 students, have a long history of superior ratings at festivals and are given many opportunities to perform. We perform 3 concerts a year, sing at graduation and participate in various choir festivals. These courses fulfill the creative arts requirement for International Baccalaureate, also known as IB.
Students have the option to become members in one of our 3 choirs: JV Mixed Choir, Varsity Mixed Concert Choir, and our top choir, Women’s Varsity Ensemble. These performance-based classes allow students to explore the possibilities of expanding their knowledge of vocal technique, music theory, and stage presence through performance. Throughout the year, choir students will be focusing on the following concepts and techniques:
- Melody/Harmony
- Tone Production
- Rhythm
- Ear Training/Intonation
- Musicality
- Solfege
- Sight Singing
- Music History
- Musical Styles
