IB Middle Years Programme (MYP)
Grades 9-10 | Whole-Student Learning with Global Perspective
At Harrison High School, the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is the foundation of our high school experience. It challenges students in Grades 9 and 10 to become critical thinkers, creative problem-solvers, and compassionate learners. Through inquiry-based instruction and real-world connections, MYP prepares students for the IB Diploma Programme (DP), Career-Related Programme (CP), and beyond.
🔍What is the MYP?
The MYP is a framework of learning that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world, not matter which country or state they are studying in. It supports the development of strong academic skills along with personal, social, and emotional growth.
Key Features:
- Inquiry-based, concept-driven curriculum
- Interdisciplinary learning across eight subject groups
- Emphasis on Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills: communication, research, self-management, social, and thinking
- Local and global service learning opportunities
- Development of the IB Learner Profile
Grade Levels:
- MYP Year 4 = 9th Grade
- MYP Year 5 = 10th Grade
ALL students enrolled at Harrison High School are automatically enrolled as MYP students.
