IB Career-Related Programme (CP)

Grades 11–12 | Career pathways with an IB core

Harrison High School is proud to be an IB Career-related Programme (CP) Candidate School, pursuing authorization to offer this innovative and flexible programme. The CP combines the academic strength of IB courses with hands-on, career-related learning, preparing students for success in both university and the workplace.

🔍 What is the IB Career-related Programme?

The CP is designed for students who want to specialize in a career pathway while still benefiting from IB’s internationally recognized academic rigor. It blends IB Diploma Programme (DP) courses with a Career-related Study (CRS), and three unique CP Core components.

At Harrison, CP students choose from specialized pathways such as:

  • Air Force JROTC

  • Health Sciences

  • Engineering

  • Culinary

  • Fashion

  • Multimedia

  • Automotive

  • Construction

🧠 CP Core Components

In addition to their career pathway and IB courses, CP students complete the CP Core:

  1. Personal and Professional Skills (PPS)
Builds transferable skills like ethical decision-making, intercultural understanding, communication, and resilience.

  2. Community Engagement
Applies skills to meaningful community projects and partnerships connected to the student’s pathway.

  3. Language & Cultural Studies
Expands students’ ability to communicate in an additional language and understand the associated cultures.

  4. Reflective Project
An in-depth research project on an ethical dilemma related to the student’s career field.

🧭 How the CP Works

A CP student’s programme includes:

  • At least two IB Diploma Programme courses (can be at SL or HL)

  • One career-related study (CRS) course or pathway
